Ealing Weightlifting Club Returns from Crystal Palace Spring Open with Bronze Medal Success
Ealing Weightlifting Club brought six lifters to the Crystal Palace Spring Open competition this Saturday, with athletes competing across three of the event’s four competition groups.
Our team represented a wide range of experience levels, from first-time competitors taking to the platform for the very first time to seasoned athletes with international competition experience.
In Women’s Group A, Vannis Jones Rahi and Shuyao Sun proudly represented Ealing. Both athletes delivered strong performances and gained valuable competition experience. While neither secured a medal on this occasion, both were competing in Group A for the first time, a significant milestone and an important step forward in their weightlifting journeys.
Ealing’s youngest competitor, Manveer Rahi, made an outstanding debut in Men’s Group B. Demonstrating exceptional composure and technical consistency, Manveer received white lights for all six of his lifts, an achievement accomplished by only a handful of lifters throughout the entire competition.
Also competing in Men’s Group B, Zorawar Singh produced a strong and confident display on the platform, earning a well-deserved bronze medal and bringing home Ealing’s only medal of the day.
Nick Potiriadis and Muhammad Sohail Khan formed Ealing’s contingent in Men’s Group A. Nick showed tremendous determination throughout the competition, while experienced lifter Mo once again delivered an impressive performance, showcasing the skill, consistency, and professionalism that have become hallmarks of his lifting.
Spectators were also treated to a remarkable performance from unaffiliated athlete Mateusz Kasina, whose display of strength and technical excellence demonstrated why he is regarded as one of the strongest competitors in the field.
We would like to thank Crystal Palace Weightlifting Club for hosting an excellent competition at Crystal Palace Sports Centre, and congratulate all athletes who took part for their hard work, commitment, and achievements.
As a special gesture at the conclusion of the event, Ealing Weightlifting Club Head Coach Kazem Panjavi presented a signed copy of his newly published book, “Six Attempts, Six White Lights”, to the winner of each competition group.
