📅 Date: Saturday 2nd August 2025

📍 Location: Perivale Athletics Track, Ealing

The Ealing Summer Open 2025 was a proud and powerful showcase of local strength, community spirit, and youth development. With 31 lifters competing across four groups, the event brought together athletes from six clubs, parents, volunteers, and special guests for a full day of Olympic weightlifting.

🥇 Guest of Honour: James Murray MP

We were honoured by the visit of James Murray, MP for Ealing North, who presented medals to our youth champions and shared words of encouragement. His support reminds us that grassroots sport plays an essential role in building a healthier and stronger community.

National Guests – From Birmingham & Manchester

  • Cheema Singh, former National Head Coach, travelled from Birmingham to support our lifters and the event team.
  • Karzan Servan, a close friend of the club and respected coach, travelled all the way from Manchester to volunteer and encourage our athletes.

We deeply appreciate the time and effort both guests gave just to support the event and the next generation of lifters.

 Competition Officials & Crew

An event like this doesn’t run on medals alone. It runs on people. Huge thanks to:

  • Allistair – our Chairman and key official
  • Laurina Mullings & Sabrina Eley – for technical officiating throughout the day
  • Nasrin & Shila – who ran the announcer table and score table like professionals
  • Kian Panjavi – our brilliant Marshal and MC, keeping lifters focused and spectators engaged
  • Sedra – for managing music,
  • Fatima Sheikh, Reza Rohui (the strongest man in the UK), and Mouhamad Sohil Khan – for keeping the warm-up area organised and assisting Coach Kazem on the platform to minimise stress

🎪 Venue & Equipment Support

  • Huge thanks to Mr Jasvinder Randhawa, who provided a stunning gazebo setup that created a professional and welcoming event space.
  • And special appreciation to our hybrid partners at Brunel Weightlifting Club, who kindly donated our old referee light system back, helping us run a fully equipped platform.
